ATLANTA — Thousands across Atlanta are still dealing with the impacts of several key water main breaks that led to a boil water advisory for much of the city; crews are working around the clock to help get water services back up and running.

On Saturday night, Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens declared the City under a state of emergency following several major water main breaks that began Friday morning.
The City of Atlanta Watershed Management expanded the boil advisory to include a larger portion of the city. The advisory states that all residents who have experienced water outages and low water pressure should boil their water.
On Saturday afternoon, Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens promised updates every two hours regarding the progress of repairs until all water mains are completely fixed. 11Alive is tracking those updates below and building closures around the city.

11:11 p.m. | 11Alive's Tresia Bowles gives an update on the water main breaks in the city. She explains how, in one particular case, firefighters faced some difficulty with water supply while extinguishing an abandoned house fire. In general, crews continue to work to provide restoration and repairs.
11:00 p.m. | Crews are still working in Atlanta. A six-inch water main was turned on earlier Sunday after emergency repairs were completed near the intersection of Euclid Ave and North Ave. NE. Water service was restored to 35 homes and four hydrants.
9:10 p.m. | Fulton County officials said that all county libraries will open at their regularly scheduled times on Monday at 10 a.m. However, all water fountains and bottle-filling stations will not be available until the boil water advisory is lifted.
8:35 p.m. | 11Alive's Erica Murphy talked to residents and business owners about how the water main breaks are affecting them.
5:22 p.m. | Water service at Grady has been restored, and water pressure has increased significantly, officials said. They will continue to provide bottled water to patients and staff as it remains under a boil water advisory.
All patient appointments, procedures and surgeries will return to normal operations on Monday.
"We are thankful for our team, who has gone above and beyond to ensure patient safety and to continue delivering exceptional care during this time. We also appreciate the City of Atlanta Department of Watershed Management working to resolve this issue," the administration said.
4:35 p.m. | Several Fulton County Board of Health (FCBOH) facilities will remain closed to the public on Monday due to the water service disruption, a spokesperson said.
The locations are:
- 10 Park Place
- Vital Records at 141 Pryor Street
- The Center for Health and Rehabilitation at 265 Boulevard
- The Neighborhood Union Health Center (186) Sunset Ave NW
Employees assigned to those locations will be working remotely if possible. All other locations will operate under normal business hours. Vital records services will be provided at the College Park Health Center (1920 John Wesley Avenue in College Park)
The spokesperson said to call 770-520-7500 if you had an appointment impacted by this disruption so it can be rescheduled for a later date.
4:10 p.m. | Centennial Olympic Park posted on social media that all water features are back in operation. The restrooms at the Visitor Information Center have also reopened for public use.
3:46 p.m. | Emory University Hospital Midtown said it is moving to normal operations on Sunday as water pressure returned to the hospital overnight. Ambulances have also resumed normal service at the hospital.
On Monday, it will operate on regular schedules for outpatient doctor's appointments, procedures and surgeries.
The hospital said it will continue to provide bottled water to patients, visitors and staff while the hospital remains under a boil water advisory.
3:40 p.m. | Fulton County officials said that all county facilities will open as normal on Monday, June 3, after restoration of water services. However, public water fountains in some facilities will be unavailable until the City of Atlanta's boil water advisory is lifted.

2:00 p.m. | Atlanta Watershed officials announced that a boil water advisory is still in effect.
12:54 p.m. | Atlanta Watershed officials announced two more potential water main breaks on Sunday, just as the city was working to fix those that occurred on Friday.
The first is being investigated near the intersection of Euclid Ave. NE & North Ave. NE. The city noted a temporary water service disruption for residences and businesses may occur.
A second potential break is being investigated near 1190 Atlantic Dr. NW. and may also temporarily disrupt water service for residences and businesses.
12:25 p.m. | The City of Atlanta has announced that the repairs at Joseph E. Boone Blvd and J.P. Brawley Dr. are completed, and water service has been fully restored to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the Fulton County Jail, Atlanta City Detention Center, many of Atlanta’s critical facilities, and residents, including several senior high-rise buildings.
Additionally, Mercedes-Benz Stadium and State Farm Arena now have water service, and scheduled events will occur as there as planned. The repair crews continue to address the broken water main at the intersection of West Peachtree St. and 11th St.
9:42 a.m. | The city is working on getting more water delivered to all stations. At this time, we have water at Stations 1 &16: • Station 1: 71 Elliot St • Station 16: 1048 Joseph E Boone Blvd
9:23 a.m. | SCAD has announced that its commencement ceremony, which was to be held today at GWCC, has been moved to the school's Atlanta campus and will take place this afternoon.
9:00 a.m. | Big Dave's Cheesesteaks' downtown location will be closed again on Sunday after water main issues caused the restaurant to flood with water.
8:50 a.m. | The Georgia Aquarium announced that it will reopen today for normal operating hours from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. However, due to the boil water advisory, the aquarium said some amenities like water fountains and ice may not be available to guests.
Guests who had tickets for Friday, May 31 or Saturday, June 1, can exchange them for a future visit by calling the Call Center at 404-581-4000.
8:15 a.m. | Atlanta United announced that the match with Charlotte FC will continue as scheduled. However, due to the water advisory, there will be limited food and beverage options.
8:00 a.m. | Atlanta Watershed notes that crews continue working on the water main break at the intersection of W. Peachtree St. and 11th St.
7:45 a.m. | Mayor Andre Dickens issued Executive Order 2024-03 to allow the City of Atlanta to access resources in an expedited manner to address the disruption of water resources to the Atlanta community.
7:30 a.m. | The city issued An updated boil water advisory map highlighting areas affected by the water main break.
7:00 a.m. | Bottled water is again being distributed to DeKalb County residents affected by the water main breaks.
Sunday, 12:06 a.m. | Crews will work through the night to repair a water main on West Peachtree St., and 11th St. As a result, West Peachtree St. is closed between 10th & 12th St. while the work occurs. Traffic control measures are in place to guide motorists around the work zone. Motorists and pedestrians should avoid the area.
Saturday, 9:52 p.m. | Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens declared that the City of Atlanta is now under a state of emergency following several major water main breaks that began Friday morning. Crews are still working to repair one last major water main break in Midtown Atlanta, but Dickens said there is no timetable for when that will be complete due to it being more "complicated."
Saturday, 9:41 p.m. | Georgia Aquarium will reopen on Sunday under normal operating hours. Due to the boil water advisory, some amenities like water fountains and ice may not be available for visitors. If you had tickets for Friday, May 31, or Saturday, June 1, you can exchange them for a future visit by calling the Call Center at 404-581-4000.
Saturday, 8:44 p.m. | Emergency repairs have been completed on a smaller water main break near Atlantic Station at 1190 Atlantic Drive. Water service has been restored to residences, businesses and hydrants in the area.
That means that all but one water main break has been repaired. The only one that crews are still working on is the one at 11th Street and West Peachtree Street.
