ATLANTA — For Atlantans who can't handle awkward conversations with drivers when they book a lift, the ride-hailing company has a solution: Book a Lyft with no driver at all.
San Francisco-based Lyft Inc. plans to deploy autonomous vehicles in Atlanta next year. Lyft will partner with autonomous-driving technology company May Mobility Inc. to launch a fleet of driverless Toyota Siennas.
It's unclear how fares for Lyft's robotaxis will compare to traditional rides with drivers, and the company did not say how many driverless cars will operate in Atlanta at launch. A representative declined to comment.
