The man who founded the oldest Black history museum in Atlanta has died, according to family on Wednesday.
Dan Moore Sr., owner of APEX Museum, passed away on March 4, his son, Dan Moore Jr., said. According to the museum's website, the business celebrates its 45-year commitment to the community.
"Please keep the immediate and extended APEX family in your prayers," their website said in part.
Funeral services are planned for Saturday, March 9, at the Midway Missionary Baptist Church in College Park, beginning at 11 a.m. A visitation is scheduled for Friday, March 8, at Willie Watkins Funeral Home on Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard.

Dan A. Moore, Sr., a noted filmmaker and museum founder, was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He discovered his passion for filmmaking in 1967 and produced documentaries covering various subjects, including religion and African culture.
Moore's dedication to showcasing African American history led him to found the APEX Museum in Atlanta in 1978. The museum, which stands on historically significant grounds, offers a comprehensive exploration of African and African American history and culture, attracting visitors worldwide.
