Born in Sparta, Georgia, Professor Charles Lincoln Harper graduated from Morris Brown College. He served as principal of Booker T. Washington High School, Atlanta’s first high school for African Americans, for three decades. He founded the Georgia Teachers and Education Association and was president of the Atlanta Branch NAACP.
