BROOKHAVEN, Ga. — An attempted traffic stop led to a pursuit that ended with a crash in Atlanta and people fleeing the scene, according to Brookhaven Police. Officers said they arrested one person.
Brookhaven Police said they received a lookout request Friday around 4:15 p.m. from Chamblee Police regarding a black SUV. The people inside had allegedly broken into cars in Doraville and Chamblee.
Brookhaven officers found the SUV on Dresden Drive. Police said they tried to conduct a traffic stop, but the vehicle took off towards Peachtree Road.
"It is believed the occupants in the vehicle were about to break into vehicles in our city," Brookhaven Police said.
Its officers pursued the driver into Atlanta, where the vehicle crashed. Georgia Department of Transportation cameras showed law enforcement officers near Lenox and Piedmont Roads.
Multiple people inside of the car ran from the scene. While Brookhaven Police said they arrested one person, the others were not located. Brookhaven officers added that Atlanta Police assisted with the search of the other suspects.
