BROOKHAVEN, Ga. -- A man has died after being hit by a car in Brookhaven Thursday morning.
The accident happened at around 4:15 a.m. in the 2200 block of North Druid Hills Road near Executive Park Drive.
The driver told Brookhaven Police she was traveling west when she hit a man crossing the road. She claimed she did not see the pedestrian.
A Georgia State Patrol spokesperson said the pedestrian was not in a crosswalk and was wearing dark clothing.
The pedestrian, whose name was not released, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with significant injuries. He later passed away at the hospital. Responding officers said they believe the man was heavily intoxicated.
The GSP is investigating the accident. No charges have been filed against the driver.
