BROOKHAVEN, Ga. — SWAT teams were called out not far from where two shooting victims were found at a metro Atlanta Waffle House earlier in the day, Friday.
Now, that shooting has turned fatal and police are looking for the person responsible.
Since roughly 3 p.m. that day, police had been investigating a double shooting that brought two people to the parking lot of the restaurant to escape their attacker.
Brookhaven police said it originally looked like the shooting happened at a nearby apartment complex but later said they weren't sure of that information.
Hours later, police reported finding the location where the shooting appeared to have happened on Barone Avenue - not far from the original scene on I-85.
When SWAT officers went inside, they found the apartment empty but saw signs that the shooting took place there. No one was taken into custody.
Earlier in the day, police were at the Waffle House and were interviewing witnesses in hopes of identifying the shooter responsible for the crime.
On Saturday, they identified Pierre Singletary as a suspect in the shooting. Police have warrants out of Singletary on charges of aggravated assault and homicide.
At the time the victims were taken to a hospital, one was in critical condition. Later, however, police confirmed that person has died.
