LITHONIA, Ga. -- One person is dead while another is injured following a shooting in DeKalb County.
DeKalb Police said the victims are brothers who were babysitting for a relative, possibly a sister. There were three children in the home and police said they are "fine" and at another relatives house.
The shooting happened on Tunbridge Wells Crescent in Lithonia early Thursday morning around 1:30.
DeKalb Police Lt. Mark Lavinge said the shooting happened outside in the backyard.
"The younger brother went outside to check on the dogs and there was a commotion outside and he was shot. When the older brother went outside to investigate what happened, he was shot. He ran back inside and got the kids to another's relative's house to safety."
One brother was shot in the arm and taken to the hospital. The other brother, a 23-year-old, died on the scene.
"Right now, we're talking to the surviving brother trying to get a more detailed description of what happened here," Lavinge said.
Authorities are currently searching for two women who they said might have also been at the home during the shooting.
Lavinge did not identify the victims are any suspects, saying "it's very early in the investigation."
