On Thursday, the Canton City Council unanimously approved the use of the grant to fix the iconic theatre in Downtown Canton. The Canton Theatre has served the area for more than 100 years.
“Every year, we look forward to issuing these single-year grants to truly impact communities throughout Georgia,” said Leigh Burns, director of community partnerships for Fox Gives.
Renovations will include a refresh of the paint, replacing signage, windows and doors and more.
The grant is a part of the "Fox Gives" program that helps historic theatres across the Peach State.
The program launched in 2008 and has since then awarded more than $3 million to over 70 theatres across the region.
"The gracious support of the Fox Theatre will allow us to make much-needed exterior renovations which will keep our Historic Theatre shining as a place of community, entertainment, and art for years to come. We are grateful for this investment in Downtown Canton," said Kristin Norton Green, the events and facilities director at the Canton Theatre.
