MACEDONIA, Ga. (WXIA) – Officials said four people were hurt in a 4-vehicle wreck on Georgia 20 in Cherokee County Wednesday afternoon.
Cherokee County and Canton fire rescue crews responded to the wreck on Ga. 20 near Beavers Road in Macedonia at about 3:15 p.m. Macedonia is an unincorporated community just east of Canton.
When they arrived, crews found four vehicles involved in the wreck – a tractor-trailer, a Chevrolet Silverado, a Ford F-250 and a Toyota Avalon. The 15-year-old driver of the Ford was entrapped in the truck when rescue crews arrived. Once they were able to extricate him, he was take via life-flight to Grady Memorial Hospital in downtown Atlanta. Officials said he was conscious and alert when he was pulled from the truck and had multiple injuries to his lower extremities.
The teen's 77 year-old grandfather was a passenger in the truck and was transported to Kennestone Hospital in Marietta with what appeared to be minor injuries.
The 49 year-old driver of the tractor-trailer and the 43 year-old passenger of the Chevrolet were both transported to North Fulton Hospital. The 49 year-old was experiencing back pains, while the 43 year-old complained of chest pains. The 76 year-old driver of the Toyota did not appear to have any injuries and was not transported to a hospital.
The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia State Patrol are investigating the wreck.
