COBB COUNTY, Ga. -- A 33-year-old has been charged with murder after police say he assaulted an elderly man in his care and caused his death.

According to the Cobb County Police Department, officers were called to the Wellstar Kennestone Hospital on Tuesday after a 91-year-old man had been transported there from a senior care facility.

When officers arrived, they met with hospital staff, who told them that the victim, Adam Bennett, had injuries that were not consistent with what they were told. Bennett died as a result of his injuries on Friday morning.

After further investigation, police determined that the victim had been assaulted by a member of the care facility, Landon Terrell of Powder Springs.

Police charged Terrell with aggravated battery and felony murder. He's being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.
