CORRECTION: A previous version of the story misidentified where the airplane pulled off the roadway. It actually pulled into a Walmart warehouse parking lot near the regional airport.
A pilot is uninjured after making an emergency landing on a metro Atlanta road - and maneuvering into a warehouse parking lot.
Motorists in Carroll County may have been surprised to see an aircraft coming in for a landing on the highway. However, it appears the person at the controls had little choice.
According to Carroll County Sheriff's Office Captain Jeff Richards, his office was called to the area of Highway 27 North near the West Georgia Regional Airport to where the plane came down.
Richards said the airplane made a successful landing in the roadway then maneuvered into the front of the warehouse. It's still unclear why the pilot was forced to make the landing in the first place.
