DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Multiple people are injured after a chase ended in a crash in DeKalb County on Monday afternoon, authorities said.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, troopers were patrolling on Candler Road shortly after 4 p.m. when they saw a gray Chevy Camaro heading northbound, speeding with a loud exhaust. That's when authorities turned around to make a traffic stop.

GSP said the driver of the Chevy refused to stop -- initiating a pursuit. The driver is accused of making evasive maneuvers and recklessly driving while endangering others to evade Troopers.

While fleeing south on Columbia Drive, the Chevy hit a black Nissan Sentra heading north, GSP said. This caused the Nissan to be forced off the roadway, overturn and eventually come to a rest on its roof after hitting a tree.

The driver and passenger in the Nissan were sent to the hospital with serious injuries, while the driver of the Chevy was sent for minor injuries, GSP said.

The investigation into the crash is pending, GSP said.
