ATLANTA – Increased security didn't appear to stop anyone from taking to the skies at the world's busiest airport.
An estimated 78,000 passengers passed through security at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Wednesday.
Sunday is expected to be the busiest day, with 88,000 passengers.
On Monday, the State Department has issued a worldwide travel advisory after terrorist attacks abroad.
Several law enforcement agencies, including heavily-armed officers from Homeland Security and the Atlanta Police Department, worked with the TSA to ensure safety at the airport.
The increased visibility of law enforcement is intentional and, according to airport officials, just part of new, heightened measures. Officials said they are using a layered approached to security, with many people behind the scenes working to provide the safest possible environment for passengers.
