A sweet moment during a somber time happened at the funeral of fallen Hall County Sheriff's Deputy Nicolas Blane Dixon Thursday morning.
A boy was seen playing the guitar on top of a black SUV during the late deputy's processional.
The 28-year-old husband and father of two was shot Sunday night trying to arrest four teenagers during a police chase. Dixon was fairly new to the job and graduated from the police academy in 2018.
The boy's mother spoke with 11Alive and said, "He is a child of gold. I must say he's got the most loving heart."
She said her son just wanted to get out there and play for the deputy who died in the line of duty.
The video shows the young boy somberly playing the guitar with his head facing down... each string being played with passion and respect.
"It makes me feel grateful that I've done something right. Try to raise my children right and that kind of shows it right there," she said emotionally.
She said she was beyond proud to see her son honoring the deputy through music.
"That sweet baby up there playing his songs for someone that had his life taken for protecting us," she said.
A memorial fund has been sent up in honor of Dixon. The money will go to his family.
