South Fulton temporarily closing City Hall to remove mold

The city did not say in a release when it expects City Hall to reopen.

SOUTH FULTON, Ga. — The City of South Fulton is closing its City Hall temporarily to remove mold, the city government said in a release over the weekend.

According to the release, the closure will be effective Tuesday, Feb. 20 (with Monday being a holiday) as staff either relocate to the Boat Rock office at 6059 Boat Rock Blvd., relocate to other offices or work remote.

The city's release did not say when they expect City Hall to reopen.

"The need for remediation arose after thorough inspections revealed the presence of mold in three specific offices at City Hall. In conjunction with city officials, the landlord has deemed it necessary to undertake extensive remediation efforts to prevent future mold and moisture intrusion," the release stated. "To effectively address the issue, extensive drywall removal is required throughout City Hall, in all sections with exterior windows. This proactive approach aims to ensure the long-term safety and well-being of all individuals who utilize City Hall facilities."

The city said regular updates on the mold removal as well as when City Hall may reopen will be "provided through official city communication channels."

"While we understand the inconvenience this closure may cause, the City of South Fulton remains committed to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for both employees and the community," the city said. "We appreciate the patience and understanding of residents and stakeholders during this temporary disruption."
