3 new buildings to be constructed at Clark Atlanta University

Students will soon be able to enjoy a new freshman residence hall, a second dining hall and a student success center.

ATLANTA — Clark Atlanta University will now receive three new buildings in a historic decision from its board of trustees, according to a university release

Students will soon be able to enjoy a new freshman residence hall, a second dining hall and a student success center. 

University officials said the residence hall will house 400 students. They added that it will be the first that will owned by the university since the 1996 construction of Brawley Hall for the Olympic Games. Officials also added that the dining hall will be located at the Bumstead and Ware site. Students will have modern and diverse food options, the university said. 

The student success center will help enhance student learning with collaborative projects and more, the university said. 

CAU news release also stated that the the board of trustees had an inclusive engagement with students before coming to their decision. 

"Today's decision by Clark Atlanta University's Board is a testament to our unwavering commitment to our scholars' success. It is a direct response to the increasing enrollment and the need for on-campus student housing," said President Dr. George French, Jr. 

Clark Atlanta officials said construction will start in the coming months. It is unclear when the project will be completed.
