TROUP COUNTY, Ga. — A Cobb County man has died after drowning in a LaGrange lake, according to the Troup County Sheriff's Office.

On Tuesday, deputies received a call around 4:45 p.m. about a man, later identified as 60-year-old Lorenzo Reed, who had traveled to West Point Lake to go fishing the day before and never returned home or answered his phone.

Shortly after, deputies found the man's truck and boat trailer unoccupied at the Highland Marina.

Deputies quickly began searching for the boat and located it a short time later. It was unoccupied and anchored in a boat slip at the same marina.

Around 7:30 p.m., officials recovered Reed's body from under the water, and he was pronounced dead.

Although no witnesses were present, investigators believe Reed fell off his boat and drowned.
