Two people hit by train in Cobb County

MARIETTA, Ga. — Two people were hit by a train in Cobb County early Monday morning, police said.

It happened around 3 a.m. on the CSX line that runs past Dobbins Air Reserve Base, near West Atlanta Street and Oakridge Drive.

According to Cobb County Police, one victim was found underneath the train "suffering from a lower leg fracture and a head injury." The other victim was found near the tracks "suffering from a possible hip injury." That victim was described as "in stable condition and alert and communicating with first responders."

Police applied a tourniquet to the first victim's leg before Cobb Fire and EMS personnel arrived and took over providing medical assistance.

Police said they were called to the scene by CSX dispatch. It was not clear what the two people were doing on the train tracks.

Both of them were taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, police said.
