COBB COUNTY, Ga. — The Cobb Galleria Centre is going to undergo a massive transformation over the next few years.

The Cobb-Marietta Coliseum & Exhibit Hall Authority, which is the owner and operator of Cobb Galleria Centre, announced on Wednesday that it has assembled a team to manage the design and construction to expand and renovate Georgia's premier mid-size convention venue.

Cobb Galleria Centre is used for tradeshows, meetings and special events. According to a release, the project is scheduled to break ground in fall 2025 and be completed in early 2027. The current plan for the facility includes:

  • Demolition of Galleria Speciality Shops and second-floor meeting rooms
  • Creating a new two-story grand entryway, a new junior ballroom to complement the existing John A Williams ballroom, two unique outdoor event courtyards and gardens with natural lighting penetrating interior conference room spaces and new connected parking with covered all-weather access.
  • Adding 13,000 square feet of meeting space with enhanced graphics and technology
  • Extensive renovation and facelift of exiting convention space, concourse, rotunda and ballroom

Rule Joy Trammell & Rubio (RJTR) has been selected as the project architect, Holder Construction as the construction manager and Impact Development Management as the owner's representative and project manager.

RJTR is an architectural and interior design practice whose notable Atlanta projects include 1105 West Peachtree, Krog Street Market, the Thompson Hotel - Buckhead and Cobb Chamber Headquarters at the Battery. According to a release, Holder Construction is a leading national commercial construction company consistently ranking in the nation's top 20 contractors. Impact Development Management is a commercial real estate development management firm helping clients execute economic and functional projects. Its portfolio spans multiple markets, from Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the Jacksonville Jaguars Stadium of the Future and renovations at the Ritz-Carlton Reynolds Lake Oconee.

Vice Chairman of the Authority and long-time commercial developer Bob Voyles said he has worked with each of these firms and believes the Authority is fortunate to have such an experienced team on this project.

"In my 19 years serving on this Authority, this is the most exciting and consequential project since we built the 2,750-seat Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in 2007," Voyles said. "Once completed in early 2027, the rejuvenation and expansion of the convention center will ensure that our facility remains No. 1 in the state of Georgia and maintains its high national standing for similar-sized facilities."
