COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A man accused of brutally stabbing his girlfriend at a Cobb County motel has pled guilty to his actions, prosecutors say.
Cobb County District Attorney Flynn Broady announced 46-year-old Daniel Henderson pled guilty to two counts of aggravated assault on Feb. 22. His plea comes five days before a trial was set to begin.
Henderson's plea stemmed from a stabbing at a Motel 6 in Cobb County on Feb. 13, 2021. Prosecutors say he and his then-girlfriend were living at the motel when they got into an argument, and he started to choke her.
"Henderson then stabbed the victim 11 times, lacerating both the kidney and liver," prosecutors said in a news release.
Henderson left the hotel, leaving his partner alone. She stumbled into the elevator and made it to the lobby when a clerk found her and called 911, a district attorney's office news release read. The clerk provided emergency aid while waiting for authorities.
Henderson was arrested on March 15, 2021, in Douglas County. A judge sentenced him to 10 years in prison, followed by five years on probation.
