NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. — Newton County deputies arrested a woman Sunday night for possibly killing her mother.
Sgt. Cortney Morrison said officers received a call about a penetrating trauma at a home off Alcovy Way in Newton County. When they arrived, they found 57-year-old Andrea Walker in the back bedroom dead. Officers said her daughter and the complainant were standing at the end of the driveway with other officers.
Officers said the complainant and 34-year-old Carly Walden, daughter of Walker, were arrested on the scene. Walden is being charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, which are both felonies.
Walden and Walker both lived in that same home, according to reports.
Walker has been taken to the GBI Crime Lab and the Newton County Coroner, Tommy Davis will complete an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Officers said they have not determined a motive and the case is still under investigation.
Newton officials are asking anyone with any information regarding Walker's death to contact Investigator Clinton French at 678-625-1429. You can also provide information by contacting the anonymous TIP Line at 678-625-5007 or newtonsheriffga.org where you can remain anonymous.
