COWETA COUNTY, Ga. -- Northgate High School was reduced to a Code Yellow status after being previously being placed on Code Red late Tuesday morning.
School officials said the precautions were being taken while law enforcement investigates an incident in northeastern Coweta County. This comes after Coweta County Police had received reports of a man with a gun walking on Fischer Road near the school earlier in the day.
According to officials, a Code Yellow status means heightened security is in effect on the school's campus and the movements of individuals are closely monitored.
School officials said they had initially been notified at 11:20 a.m. by Coweta County Police of a man walking on Fischer Road with a gun, which resulted in the earlier Code Red status being instituted at Northgate and at nearby Canongate Elementary School.
