MARIETTA, Ga. — A crash closed all lanes of a busy road in Marietta on Thursday afternoon and left two people seriously injured, police said.
Marietta Police were called out to Barrett Parkway at Village Greene around 4:50 p.m. on Thursday after a wreck, which police said was a rollover with one person entrapped after two cars collided in the middle of the intersection.
Through the crash investigation, police said that a 68-year-old woman from Marietta was driving a 2017 Mazda CX-5 north on Barrett Parkway when she was turning left onto Village Greene. A 28-year-old man from Marietta was driving a 2019 Dodge Ram south on Barrett Parkway in the right lane when they collided in the intersection.
The woman was rushed to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in critical condition. The man was taken to the same hospital, where police said he was in stable condition with serious but moderate injuries.
Police said they believe there are witnesses to the crash and for them to call Investigator J. Henderson at 770-794-5384.
Marietta Police's Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) unit was called out to the scene to investigate the wreck.
11Alive's SkyTracker flew over the scene, which showed the two vehicles with damage on the side of the road near a traffic light pole.
