9 hurt after crash involving MARTA bus off I-20, police say

GSP said troopers responded to the two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Interstate 20 West and Windsor Street at 2:20 p.m.

ATLANTA — Editor's note: This story has been updated based on the Georgia State Patrol's preliminary crash report.

Nine people are hurt after a crash involving a MARTA bus off I-20 Monday afternoon, according to Georgia State Patrol.

GSP said troopers responded to the two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Interstate 20 West and Windsor Street at 2:20 p.m.

According to MARTA Police, dispatch received a call about a car veering off the exit ramp into the path of the bus. In GSP's preliminary report, troopers said a silver Chevrolet Equinox was traveling on the ramp from I-20 west to Windsor Street, and a MARTA bus was traveling south on Windsor Street. That's when the driver of the Equinox failed to yield and hit the left front of the MARTA bus, according to GSP.

The MARTA bus had passengers onboard, and nine people were taken to Emory Midtown with injuries, GSP said in the update. No word from authorities yet on whether the driver of the car was injured.
