House fire evacuates homes in Brookhaven neighborhood: Fire officials

The fire broke out at a home on Arbor Trace NE, which is a five-minute drive from Lenox Square Mall.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A few homes in Brookhaven were evacuated after a house caught fire on Friday morning, spreading to other homes in the area, according to DeKalb County Fire Rescue Department officials.

The fire broke out at a home on Arbor Trace NE, which is a five-minute drive from Lenox Square Mall. Fire officials said a call came in a little before 4 a.m. reporting a house fire in the area. When crews arrived, they said the flames from one home had spread to two other residential structures.

Fire officials initially said no one was inside the homes during the fire but later updated their statement, stating that others had escaped safely. Officials did not say how many people were home.

Three other homes were evacuated, officials said, adding that they are still fighting flames in the area and said they would be out there for a while. How the fire started is still under investigation, according to the fire rescue department.
