ATLANTA — The Atlanta Beltline Partnership is kicking off a new crowdfunding campaign to bring light to the east side of the popular trail.

The online campaign called "Light the Line" is asking for donations to help raise more than $1 million to install 14-foot LED lights every 90 feet along the trail stretching from Monroe Drive to Irwin Street.

So far, the group has already received a pledge of $100,000 from the Ponce City Market, who tweeted their support Tuesday.

The Partnership says the instillation will be determined based on the length of the fundraising campaign.

Officials say they want users to feel comfortable and safe at all times of day, even when it's early in the morning when it's still dark.

For details on the project and how to donate, read the fact sheet or visit their website.
