2 dead, 2 critically hurt after crash along Buford Highway in Doraville: officials

Here's what we know.

DORAVILLE, Ga. — Two people are dead and two others are critically hurt after a crash on Buford Highway in Doraville on Friday morning, according to officials with the City of Doraville.

Officials said the crash happened around 11:40 a.m. Doraville Police posted on social media for drivers to avoid Buford Highway between Shallowford Road and Park Avenue as officers responded to the accident. In an update after several hours, authorities said all lanes of Buford Highway have reopened. 

A spokesperson with the City of Doraville said a Mazda sedan and a Chevy Silverado collided. The spokesperson added the Mazda was traveling southbound on Buford Highway and appeared to veer in front of the Chevy, which was traveling northbound. 

Four people were in the Mazda-- two passengers were killed, and two others, including the driver and another passenger, have critical injuries, according to Doraville's spokesperson. The driver of the Chevy was also injured but is stable, the city spokesperson added. 

11Alive crews at the scene saw Chamblee Police also responding to the scene. 

Georgia State Patrol will be taking over the investigation, the city spokesperson said. 11Alive has reached out for more information about what happened.
