62-year-old woman dies in Paulding County house fire, officials say

Firefighters were alerted about the fire around 10:36 a.m. when a man called 911 saying his house located on Legend Drive in Dallas was on fire.

DALLAS, Ga. — A 62-year-old woman is now dead after a house fire broke out at a Paulding County home early Monday morning, according to fire officials. 

Firefighters were alerted about the fire around 10:36 a.m. when a man called 911 saying his house located on Legend Drive in Dallas was on fire and his disabled wife was trapped in their bedroom on the second story. 

Crews arrived at the scene seven minutes after the call, where heavy black smoke could be seen coming from the home, according to a news release. 

Paulding County Fire and Rescue crews said they finally found the 62-year-old woman after starting search and rescue efforts. 

Shortly after they found the woman, medical personnel tried life-saving efforts, but she sadly passed away. 

Paulding County Fire and Rescue, Paulding County Sheriff's Office, and the State of Georgia's Fire Marshall's Office are all investigating the cause of the fire and the incident.

No other details were released about the woman's identity.
