On Monday, Decatur police confirmed she died of a gunshot wound. The 44-year-old lived in Smyrna and worked at True Salon. "While we are all in shock and grasping to understand how something so tragic could happen to a woman with such a beautiful heart, we must believe justice will prevail," the salon said in a statement.

City officials have emailed local businesses to remind them that police have already stepped up patrols in the area for the holiday season.
