DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — DeKalb County Fire Rescue responded to a fire at an apartment building on Friday.
Fire officials told 11Alive at least two units were heavily damaged. They received the call around 11:15 a.m. and responded to Springdale Glen, which is located on Brockett Trail.
11Alive SkyTracker flew over the scene, where you could see smoke coming from the building.
There were people inside the building when the fire broke out. However, they all managed to get out safely, DeKalb Fire officials said. About 10 units were saved from major damage and no injuries were reported.
According to the Red Cross, 12 families, which totaled to about 30 people, were displaced.
Volunteers from the organization provided the families with emotional support, water, snacks, and personal care items. The Red Cross also plans on helping with emergency assistance, such as temporary lodging.
