DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — One person was rescued from an apartment fire in DeKalb County as crews put out a blaze that impacted six units.
It happened at the Legacy Apartments on Willow Lake Drive off Briarcliff Road.
"This is a working incident. Crews are working on extinguishment," DeKalb County Fire Capt. Jaeson Daniels said early Thursday morning. 11Alive sent a crew to the scene, observing the last of firefighting efforts.
The fire was reported at a three-story structure. Two of the six units were said to be unoccupied, and four families in all were impacted.
There was no word on a cause.
In an afternoon update, the DeKalb County Fire Rescue Department wrote:
Units were dispatched to a report of an apartment fire at, the Legacy Apartments, on Briarcliff Road. On arrival crews saw moderate smoke pushing from a third story unit. Members successfully evacuated the structure and began looking for the origin of the fire. The fire appears to have started in a bottom unit, with smoke traveling to the third story. A total of four families will be displaced. The cause is being investigated
