DeKalb to giveaway 5,000 boxes in Black History Month food distribution

Starting Saturday, Feb. 3, beginning at 9 a.m., food distribution will take place at nine different locations across the county.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Government, faith, and community leaders are partnering in DeKalb County to distribute 5,000 boxes of food on Saturday, according to a release on Tuesday.

DeKalb County said the Black History Month Food Distribution would provide Georgia-grown fruits, vegetables and chicken hindquarters to those in need using federal aid from the American Rescue Plan in addition to help from churches and local groups.

“Because food insecurity affects one in nine Georgians, DeKalb County continues to partner with local faith and community leaders to provide relief for struggling families,” DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond said.
