Numerous power outages in DeKalb County | Updates

There were also several reports of trees down around the area.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — There were numerous power outages in DeKalb County early Monday morning following some storms in the area the night before.

You can check Georgia Power's outage map here. Around 5:30 a.m., it reported nearly 4,100 customers affected from 78 different outages in DeKalb. There were also roughly 1,200 customers impacted in Henry County. There were a little more than 200 affected in Fulton County. Georgia EMC reported few outages in metro Atlanta -- only 24 around 5:30 a.m.

11Alive's Christie Diez was on the scene in DeKalb during the morning hours, where there were also a number of tree down reports. T Crews have been out overnight working to restore power. 

Below are updates on the outages.

3:20 p.m. | The Georgia Power outage map shows there are still more than 1,850 customers impacted by the outages. 

In the Clarkston area - zip code 30021 -- there are now about 540 impacted customers. About 250 customers in Lithonia -- zip code 30038 are impacted. And the map shows zip code 30034 has about 320 impacted customers.

1 p.m. | Outages have continued into this afternoon, with the Georgia Power map showing 2,374 customers remaining affected from a total of 108 outages.

The main areas experiencing issues continue to be Clarkston's 30021 zip code, with 748 customers impacted, the 30038 zip code near Stonecrest with 256 customers affected and the neighboring 30034 zip code in the Panthersville area where there are 374 customers affected.

10:50 a.m. | Still around 2,800 without power in DeKalb, and 868 in Fulton County.

10:10 a.m. | The number of impacted customers continues to tick down in DeKalb County - now at 2,881. Fulton is at 855.

The 30058 zip code in the Lithonia area that had significant outages is now down to just 10 customers affected.

9:00 a.m. | Some progress now -- DeKalb down to a little more than 3,000 outages, with the 892 figure still holding in Fulton County. Looks like most of that improvement came from the 30038 zip code in the Stonecrest area, where there had been more than 1,000 customers affected and now there are roughly 250.

8:00 a.m. | Still not much movement here for DeKalb -- count is at 3,940 customers without power. Map also now showing almost 900 customers without power in Fulton County as well. 

That Fulton County figure includes one outage of 274 customers in the 30310 zip code and another affecting 472 customers in 30318.

7:20 a.m. | The number of customers affected in DeKalb County remains just shy of 4,000, at 3,922. The five zip codes most heavily impacted remain unchanged.

6:45 a.m. | Still nearly 4,000 customers without power. You can filter outages by zip code on the Georgia Power website, and those with the most outages include:

  • 30038 (Lithonia, Stonecrest) - 1,068 customers affected
  • 30034 (Panthersville, south DeKalb) - 407 customers affected
  • 30058 (Lithonia) - 253 customers affected
  • 30083 (Stone Mountain and parts south) - 428 customers affected
  • 30021 (Clarkston) - 745 customers affected

6:10 a.m. | Georgia Power map now showing a little more than 3,900 customers affected. The number in Henry County is down to under 200, and it remains slightly more than 200 in Fulton County.

Some of the main outage clusters appear to be centered around Stonecrest, where there are two affecting hundreds of customers - one impacting more than 900 and another impacting more than 300, both off I-20.

Another impacting more than 300 customers is clustered off Flat Shoals Parkway around Dogwood Farm Road on the east to Flakes Mill Road on the west.
