ATLANTA — If you're sitting around wondering where your Georgia driver's license is after ordering a new one, chances are it's being delayed by ongoing issues with the United States Postal Service.
The Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) said USPS issues have caused delays in getting customers their permanent driver's licenses and ID cards.
The Georgia DDS said they are "urging customers to plan ahead and pack their patience" as they sit and wait to receive their IDs in the mail.
Typically, Georgia driver's licenses are delivered within two to four weeks, but now that timeframe will likely be delayed, according to the DDS.
For those who are still waiting to receive their license, the DDS explained that you should carry both your last issued ID and paper interim licenses, as well as any receipts that came along with it.
The DDS said those waiting around can follow updates on social media @GeorgiaDDS or via their website, which can be found here.
