Two Paulding County Sheriff's deputies were honored with the Life Saving Award on Tuesday after helping a man suffering from a medical emergency.

Paulding County Sheriff officials said on June 3, Sergeant Wesley Mullins and Deputy James Williams were dispatched to a medical call at the Paulding Courthouse. When the deputies arrived, they found a Probate Court employee unconscious, in cardiac arrest and whose face was purple in color.

According to the sheriff's office, Deputy Williams took over CPR from another employee while Sergeant Mullin retrieved the Automated External Defibrillator (AED). They attached the AED to the employee's body, administered a shock and continued CPR.

Officials confirmed that since the date of the incident, the employee has recovered and been back to work.

"Without the quick thinking and decisive action taken by Sergeant Mullins and Deputy Williams, the employee’s life might not have been saved," said Sheriff Gary Gulledge. "I, along with the employee’s family, am forever grateful for what those Deputies did that day. I am proud beyond measure of Sergeant Mullins and Deputy Williams. "
