BANKS COUNTY, Ga -- The Banks County Sheriff's office has fired the deputy who arrested former Atlanta Hawks player Mike Scott in 2015.

A spokesperson for the department said Brent Register has been dismissed after an investigation determined that Scott's arrest was a result of possible racial profiling.

"Our agency's recent administrative review of the Scott case ruling has resulted in the dismissal of Brent Register from the Banks County Sheriff's Office," a department statement said. "We addressed an issue that was brought to our attention immediately.

"In the profession of law enforcement, issues will arise in every agency due to an essence of individuals being imperfect," the statement said. "One officer's actions does not reflect the agency as a whole."
