HENRY COUNTY, Ga. — As Georgia residents recover from the recent onslaught of tornadoes and storms, shelters are opening for residents affected by the damage.
Here is a list of shelters accepting those in need. Currently, shelters are open for folks in Henry, Troup and Spalding counties. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
Henry County
Locust Grove Recreation Center will be open starting Jan. 16 at 4 p.m. The Locust Grove Rec Center is at 10 Cleveland St. Several items will be available to residents including:
- Mobile showers
- Bathrooms
- Washers
Wi-Fi and charging stations will be available at Verizon’s Wireless Emergency Communication center, according to a Twitter post from the Henry County Police Department.
Residents of the Indian Creek Mobile Home Community with no power can receive two meals a day from the Salvation Army, according to the post.

Troup County
The American Red Cross opened a shelter for residents in Troup County. The shelter is at Faith Baptist Church at 552 Hammett Road in LaGrange.
If you need to pick up supplies, Oakside Baptist Church will be handing out items from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information on how to help, click here.
Spalding County
The American Red Cross also opened a shelter for Griffin residents at First Methodist Church at 1401 Maple St. in Griffin. They recently opened City Park Gymnasium at 601 Camp Northern Rd. in Griffin as well.

- Griffin First Assembly at 2000 West McIntosh Road (food and supplies)
- The Donation Center at 220 East Solomon St. Items are available for pickup Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.(tarps and water)
