Georgia deputy shot in the arm, suspect killed in dispute over pigs running loose, sheriff says

The deputy was shot in the arm by the suspect, causing the deputy to return fire and ultimately kill the suspect, Sheriff Brian Robinson says.

EASTMAN, Ga. — A sheriff's deputy was injured and a suspect is dead after an Eastman shooting, according to Dodge County Sheriff Brian Robinson.

The GBI says Kim Lawong Crocker, 58, was shot and killed during the confrontation, which started after the deputy was called to the scene over a report of pigs wandering around the neighborhood.

They say it happened at around 10 a.m. on Tuesday at a home on Dodge Avenue.

The GBI says the call reported animals and livestock in the roadway at Dodge Ave and Mt. Moriah Street.

When the deputy arrived to talk to the resident, Robinson says the situation escalated quickly between the deputy and the suspect.

Crocker was standing at the corner of the home with the gun where they met the deputy, the GBI says.

Robinson says the suspect opened fire on the deputy, hitting them in the arm.

That's when the deputy returned fire, ultimately killing the suspect, Robinson said.

On Wednesday, Robinson confirmed the deputy shot was named Adam Walker. He says he is currently in recovery.

Robinson says that he actually knew the family of the suspect shot and killed. He says he is praying for both the family of the deputy and the suspect and asks for the community to do the same.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing. The GBI asks anyone with information to contact their regional investigative office in Eastman at 478-374-6988.

Once the investigation is complete, the case file will be given to the Oconee Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office for review, the press release said.
