Metro Atlanta teacher injured, family member and two others killed in South Carolina crash, authorities say

At least 3 people were killed in the crash, according to Greenville County Coroner's Office.

GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. — A metro Atlanta teacher is in the hospital and mourning the loss of a loved one after a deadly South Carolina crash early Sunday morning, according to the authorities.

Donald Green works as a math teacher for North Atlanta High School, according to the school's principal.

At least three people died in the crash, according to the Greenville County Coroner's Office.

The Greenville County Coroner's Office identified those who died as Jimmie Wallace of Alabama, Storm Shepard of Duncan, South Carolina and Sharae Deneen Green of Georgia. Although the coroner's office said Shepard is from South Carolina, an 11Alive viewer and an online obituary says she was born in Georgia.

While 11Alive has not been able to independently confirm at this time whether Sharae Green and Donald Green are related, multiple public online posts identified her as his wife. In a statement, North Atlanta High School principal Curtis Douglass also shared his sympathies over the loss in Green's family.

"The North Atlanta High School Community is at a loss for words regarding the tragic loss that Mr. Green, our beloved math teacher, and his family are facing this holiday season," Douglass said. "Green is a great educator who loves his students."

The deadly crash happened on Interstate-85 south near mile marker 51 in South Carolina after a wrong-way driver allegedly caused four vehicles to crash, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Sharae Green, died while in the car with her family and two dogs. The dogs, Moon and Asta, disappeared from the accident scene and police need help finding one of them.

On Monday afternoon, one of the dogs had been found, according to a South Carolina animal rescue
