DeKalb man accused of killing wife to get new trial

DORAVILLE, Ga. -- A new trial will begin Monday for a DeKalb County man accused of killing his wife.

Dennis Ronald Allaben was convicted in 2011 of murdering his wife Maureen, a set decorator for BET's "The Mo'Nique Show." He was sentenced to life in prison.

Last November, the Supreme Court of Georgia overturned Allaben's malice murder conviction and remanded his case. The high court said it was thrown out because a malice murder conviction is mutually exclusive with a reckless conduct conviction -- another charge of which Allaben was found guilty.

Prosecutors said during the original trial that in January 2010, Allaben choked Maureen to death and then drove his two young children to Virginia with his wife's body in the bed of his truck.
