Man dies after southeast Atlanta shooting, second victim recovering: APD

Officers first responded to a call on Jonesboro Road around 12:46 a.m.

A man is dead, and another is recovering after a shooting in southeast Atlanta early Saturday morning. 

Police said the shooting happened on Jonesboro Road SE and involved two men.

Officers first responded to a call from Jonesboro Road around 12:46 a.m. They found a 45-year-old man with gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital in critical condition but later died.

Shortly afterward, officers were called to Lakewood Terrace SE, where they found a 20-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his leg and torso. Police said he was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Investigators believe the two incidents are connected and part of the same shooting but have not provided any other details. 

The Atlanta Police Department’s Homicide Unit is leading the investigation, which is ongoing.
