DULUTH, Ga. -- A teacher was burned while conducting a science experiment at Duluth High School, school officials confirmed.
A video of the incident circulated on social media, prompting a response from Duluth High School Principal Eric Davidson.
"Video of the incident circulating on social media shows flames igniting during a science experiment conducted by the teacher," Davison said in a letter addressed to families on Halloween. "The teacher suffered minor, superficial injuries and no others in the classroom were hurt."
The teacher was checked out at the scene by medical staff and taken to the hospital by a friend.
In the letter, Davidson described the situation as "rare" and said the school system is working to determine exactly how the fire happened.
"I know you join me in wishing our teacher a speedy recovery," Davidson said.
