Dunwoody launches real-time crime center

They unveiled the new state-of-the-art facility on Thursday.

DUNWOODY, Ga. — Dunwoody is about to get a little safer after the city announced it had launched a brand new real-time crime center.

They unveiled the new state-of-the-art facility on Thursday, which brings together different crime-monitoring technologies to make the community safer.

The center is powered by Flock Safety -- the same company that makes Flock cameras. The new real-time crime center pulls together license plate readers, traffic cameras, gunshot detection and more.

It uses crime analysis to get that information to officers in the field.

"It's a forced multiplier in that way. And honestly, I think it relieves our officers in a way, that they know there's always someone out there looking for 'em and kind of has their six," Maj. Patrick Krieg of the Dunwoody Police Department said.

The center is staffed roughly 40 hours a week, and they are hoping to staff it full-time moving forward.

The center is powered by Flock Safety.
