DECATUR, Ga. -- Georgia's State Board of Pardons and Paroles has decided to extend Andrea Sneiderman's parole eligibility another 2 months. She was eligible for consideration April 22, after serving one-third of her sentence. The board ruled today that Sneiderman be granted a tentative parole month of June.

Sneiderman is serving a 5-year prison sentence. She was convicted on perjury charges after being accused of lying to investigators about the death of her husband. Rusty Sneiderman was shot outside of a Dunwoody daycare in November 2010.

Sneiderman's former boss, Hemy Neuman, is serving a life sentence after being found guilty but insane in the death of Rusty Sneiderman. Investigators allege that Sneiderman was having an affair with Neuman and lied during his murder trial about their relationship. Andrea Sneiderman has denied romantic involvement with Neuman.

Sneiderman was eligible for parole at 20 months. The Parole Board determined that she should serve 22 months of her sentence.

"The decision is not final," said Steve Hayes, Director of Public Affairs for the board.

Another review will be conducted in June and if things change, parole could be denied. Changes, like bad behavior, additional charges, and new information coming to light.

However, at this point there is no evidence of that happening. 11Alive has previously reported that Sneiderman is one of a few inmates with a college degree, so she's using her time - to help others earn their GED. Last December, a prison spokesperson confirmed Sneiderman is a career clerk, helping women with their resumes and class work. But her defense attorney, Brian Steel, says its her children that need her most.

The board would not confirm whether or not victim statements were used in the decision to set a temporary parole month, because that information is not made public.

A final decision will be made as the tentative parole month approaches, according to the Parole Board.

Meantime, the Georgia Court of Appeals is expected to hear soon from Sneiderman's attorney. 11Alive has learned an appeal to her conviction is expected within a week or so.
