Source of threat against Lemonade Days identified; event deemed safe for the public

The event was never in danger of being canceled.

DUNWOODY, Ga. — Police have deemed a popular event safe for the public after earlier receiving a threat.

Dunwoody police posted on its Facebook page Thursday evening that it became aware of threatening social media posts against the popular Lemonade Days event "created concern in the community." 

The department said it was working with other agencies to investigate the threat and "respond appropriately." The event was never in danger of being canceled.

In an update Friday, police said source of the threat was later identified and determined to pose no threat to Lemonade Days. Police did not provide more details on the specifics of the threat.

Dunwoody police said it had already been working on a security plan for the popular event for several months, which included extra officers and new technology like surveillance trailers to give "officers extra eyes and ears on all the fun."

While the event is set to proceed, police still urged the public to "keep their eyes and ears open" and report anything suspicious by calling 911. The event is scheduled to continue through Sunday, April 21.
