ATLANTA -- Police are asking for public help to identify one of the four suspected men who robbed a woman at gunpoint as she got into her car outside an East Atlanta restaurant and shooting her friend who tried to intervene.

The shooting and robbery happened Sept. 18 in the 1300 block of Glenwood Ave NE at about 12:30 a.m. Police said a woman was getting into her car after a night out with friends at the Flatiron Bar and Restaurant on Flat Shoals Ave SE when several men ran up to her car, pointed a gun in her face, and robbed her.

A male friend saw what was happening and he was shot by the suspects as he attempted to stop the attack. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, in stable condition, with a gunshot wound to his leg.

The victim told police she had noticed four men sitting in a car nearby as she walked to her vehicle. Police believe they may have been canvassing the area.

“It seems like the suspects were here canvassing the area when the victim walked past their vehicle,” said Captain Reginald Moorman with the Atlanta Police Department.

The suspects fled in a black sedan, possibly a Honda and were able to get away with the woman's purse and cell phone.

Anyone with information on this case or anyone who may recognize the suspect is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
