ATLANTA -- On Monday, concerned neighbors packed an emergency public safety meeting, after a man was shot and killed at an East Atlanta apartment complex this week.
Police say the victim came home to find someone trying to burglarize his apartment. The two then got into a fight, leading the suspect to kill the victim.

At the meeting, residents of the Alexan EAV apartments reached out to 11Alive to cover the meeting after seeing the report on the murder. During the meeting, they shared their concerns about the uptick in crime in the area and officers discussed how they plan to help.
"You're gonna see heightened visibility of police patrols in your area. We're gonna continue to work with management. We have a meeting tomorrow, but we're gonna continue to work with them to find the best solution to what we can do as a team," officers assured those gathered.
Police are still trying to identify a man caught on a neighbor's surveillance video, so they can bring him in for questioning. Meanwhile, the gunman is still on the run.
