ATLANTA -- A Fulton County grand jury has formally indicted Michael Wash and LaSherae Davis, both of East Point, in connection with the death of his daughter, 7-year-old Kamaire Wash. Her body was found under a bridge in Allatoona Lake in Bartow County late last June.
Michael Wash was indicted on charges of murder, aggravated assault, first degree cruelty to children, making false statements and concealing the death of another. LaSherae Davis was indicted on charges of first degree cruelty to children, making false statements, and concealing the death of another.
According to the indictment, Michael Wash beat Kamarie, striking her with "an object or objects" with enough force to seriously injure her. In addition, the indictment says Wash and Davis both neglected to seek medical care for Kamarie at that point.
Investigators said Michael Wash reported Kamarie Wash missing the morning of Thursday, June 30, 2016. About 12 hours earlier, boaters found a girl's body underneath the Interstate 75 bridge over Allatoona Lake in Bartow County. The body would turn out to be Kamarie's, and the time it was found was before Michael Wash told police he saw her last -- supposedly before he put her to bed.
Bartow County Investigators, along with East Point Police and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation were able to positively identify Kamarie. The investigation led to charges against Michael Wash and Davis in connection with the death of their daughter.
Kamaire was Wash's daughter from a previous relationship. The couple has three daughters of their own -- 18-month-old twins and a 4-year-old. They had moved to East Point from Wisconsin earlier in the year.
