Emory Midtown impacted by water main breaks as some patients are now being moved

Water main breaks are now impacting one of Atlanta's busiest hospitals.

ATLANTA — As water main breaks continue to have a widespread impact across the entire city of Atlanta, one prominent hospital is now being affected.

Emory Hospital Midtown announced it is having to move some of its patients needing dialysis to other Emory hospitals for treatment.

Ambulances coming to the hospital's emergency department are also being diverted to other hospitals, except for those with "urgent heart concerns," the hospital announced.

Patients who walk in to the emergency department are still being treated, however.

Outpatient doctor appointments at Emory Midtown have either been rescheduled or moved to another Emory location.

The hospital is also bringing in 58,000 gallons of water via six tanker trucks to ensure the hospital's chillers and cooling towers are running properly for air conditioning to keep working. The staff is also handing out bottled waters to patients.
